WHY EVIE'S EASEL?
When still in the corporate world, Eva took classes in watercolor and acrylic art painting.  She is an accomplished artist with canvasses displayed and sold in a prestigious art gallery in PhiladelphiaTired of the corporate world she found faux painting as an avenue to utilize her innate ability to combine colors in artistic fashion.  She apprenticed as a faux artist for several years while taking classes in faux artistry before deciding to branch out on her own.  Needing a name for her new endeavor, she decided the walls she would faux are her new easels.  Thus, Evie's Easel.

WHAT IS FAUX PAINTING?
Faux painting or faux finishing is usually a process of applying one or more translucent glazed tint coats of color over a base coat of a different color.  This can be done by rolling, sponging, ragging, or combing.   The Venetian Plaster finish is accomplished by applying several thin coats of finish by spatula or trowel with a final coat of special wax.  The results are finishes that provide movement and texture to walls and a dramatic background to your furnishings and art objects. WHAT IS DECORATIVE PAINTING?                                                                     Decorative painting, as we use it, is the application of two or more paint colors to walls, floors or objects in a manner which creates effects such as vertical or horizontal stripes or harlequin diamonds.  BACK TO TOP

CAN YOU GIVE ME AN IDEA OF COST OVER THE PHONE OR INTERNET?           Unfortunately, no.  There are too many variables which cannot be addressed over the phone.  For example, the size and height or the room, the number of "cut ins" (window, doors and cabinets), and the finish desired.  BACK TO TOP

WHAT DOES IT COST TO HAVE YOU VISIT AND PROVIDE AN ESTIMATE?        There is no cost to you to invite us to your home or office to view and measure.  In addition, the consultation will also address what finish and colors you desire.  BACK TO TOP

IF I DON'T HAVE A SPECIFIC THEME IN MIND, WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?    On our initial consultation we arrive with sample boards in hand to show.  From these you may be able to find a finish you like but in different colors or textures.  From this we will develop a sample board with the texture and colors we discussed to allow you to see the finish before the first color is put on your walls.  BACK TO TOP

WHY IS FAUX PAINTING MORE EXPENSIVE THAN STANDARD PAINTING?
Faux painting is really a work of art meant to provide a deeper backdrop for your furnishings, sculptures or art objects than plain painting can provide.  The method of application where the glaze coats are each applied by hand over the entire space requires training and expertise.  BACK TO TOP

HOW LARGE A CREW WOULD BE BROUGHT IN TO MY HOME OR OFFICE IF I HIRE EVIE'S EASEL?
Eva and Cam are the only faux artists to hand apply the faux glazes -- every job.  However, depending upon the size of the project we may bring in one or more additional crew members to prep and tape or base coat.  This accomplishes three crucial issues:
   1.  controls costs by not sub-contracting other artists;
   2.  assures the final product looks exactly like the agreed upon sample board
        and;
   3.  we, the co-owners, are always on hand should any questions arise.
